How Madzi Alipo fixes & maintains Water pumps
When we started fixing water pumps in 2012, 40% of hand pumps around us were broken. Hand pumps are mechanical and they (understandably) breakdown. The problem was no one was fixing them, or supporting communities to maintain and care for their hand pumps to extend the water points longevity.

Today we repair water pumps through a 3-part system
To gain a better picture of Malawi's water crisis we built and in-field app and database, Madzi Alipo Management System (MAMS). Every water pump is mapped, community contact details are logged and the history of each water point is recorded. Through our call centre breakdowns are reported and over-the-phone technical support is given for basic mantenance and repairs.

Affording repairs is a widespread community challenge in Malawi. Most people are unable to access a bank or corporate saving system. MadziSave leverages modern technology and app-based saving schemes, helping communities financially contribute to their water points.

The Malawian water point parts market is flooded with cheap parts that break within months or days. EverFlow parts are collaborative innovative designs, made in Malawi, tested in the field by Madzi Alipo for durability and value for money.
